Because we are treating a disease that affects those around us, as much or more than ourselves, a good part of our addiction treatment program is directed toward interpersonal relationship considerations. Naturally your family members are to be included in your treatment. They will be invited to meet with us and learn about the disease that has caused them so much worry and heartache. They will be encouraged to involve themselves in their own plan of recovery. A formal program of education, discussion, and group meetings will be offered to them, while you are a resident at Bow Creek Recovery Center. Since we want to deal with your number one problem first, your contact with your family will be limited to a certain extent during the first few days of your stay, but after the initial period, regular visiting hours are established.
Family Group is designated for family involvement. Family members and other persons, close to the program participant, are invited by the participant to attend. This group will begin as a didactic educational group with topics such as codependency, enabling, and the addiction recovery process, and will end as a process group for those wishing to participate. Persons wishing to visit on visiting day (Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm) must first attend at least one family group meeting.
