Loved ones who abuse drugs and alcohol? Family members who support their New Year's Resolution to stop using.

New Years Resolution for family members with loved ones who abuse drugs or alcohol
Do you have a loved one who you are helping to make the decision to stop abusing drugs or alcohol.
This is a time of year when you have the experience of how difficult it is to have a loved one who is suffering from an addiction. This is the time of year that it becomes so evident that it is necessary to get your loved one help. This can be a dangerous time of year for those with addictions. There can be drunk driving, that often results in an accident that hurts others. There can be drug overdoses. These are very scary situations for people who love the person who is addicted to drugs or alcohol. It is a time to find help for your loved one. One of the best ways to help someone with an addiction is to find a residential drug and alcohol rehab where they can be safe without drugs or alcohol, where they can be supported to learn new behaviors that they can use for the rest of their lives to create a healthy and happy life.
Let us help your loved one to succeed with the resolution to rebuild their lives. We are an intimate home-like setting set in 3 acres of beautiful lawns with ponds and quiet places to take rest. We at Bow Creek Recovery Center offer many services to support the change you would like to see for your loved one. First of all we are a holistic residential drug and alcohol rehab. We offer the services of our personal trainer who designs a program that fits just who the person is. We use a state of the art gym with swimming pools, exercise equipment, free weights, sauna, hot tub and a rock climbing wall. Our nutritionist offers training in better choices of food to support a healthy body. Our chef prepares flavorful, healthy food. As well as the holistic program we offer the very necessary treatment for the underlying psychological factors that predicate addictions. This is our therapeutic program. It consists of one-on-one therapy with our counselors, a dynamic group therapy and 12 step instruction and introduction to 12 step programs to support continued sobriety and non-drug use. Ours is a well rounded social model program that creates an individual program that is designed for the person based upon who they are. Our goal at Bow Creek Recovery Center is to offer our full and dynamic support so that your loved one can lead a life free of addictions.
Bow Creek Recovery Center works with several very capable Interventionists who can help you when your loved one does not understand how badly they need help. Let us guide you with this help. It can be a very loving and supported choice. It is not just the interventions that you see on TV. The Family Systemic approach is a very loving and family oriented method of intervention. Ten Tips to help you succeed at your New Year's Resolution to stop drinking or using drugs from your residential drug and alcohol rehab center

Ten Tips to Help you Succeed at Your New Year's Resolution to Stop Drinking or Using Drugs!

Here are some things to think about when making your New Year's Resolution to stop using drugs or to stop drinking.

Ten Tips to your Success:

1) Be Realistic

Make a goal that you can succeed at one step at a time. To say that it is the first of the year and I will stop all drug use and all alcohol immediately is to set yourself up to fail. Understand that you have an addiction. Know that you can attain your goal to stop using drugs or alcohol. Know that the best way for you to do this is to make the choice, seek out the help that you will need and follow through with that help. One such opportunity for those of you caught in drug or alcohol addictions is to join a residential drug and alcohol rehab, Bow Creek Recovery Center, is a residential drug and alcohol rehab, where you will get the support that you need, where you will be in a clean environment, away from the situations that trigger your desire to use.

2) Make a plan

The best way to succeed is to make a plan for yourself. Look at the addiction and determine how you can succeed. What little steps would be a good choice to help you to succeed at your chosen goal. Write out the plan, make it simple and something that is easy to attain. Then follow the plan. In this instance, a good plan might be to find the resources that you need to help to support you in the plan. One thing that we offer at Bow Creek Recovery Center is supportive replacement therapy for opiate addictions with Suboxone. By joining our team at Bow Creek Recovery Center you will not have to go through the difficult, painful withdrawal symptoms that go along with opiate withdrawal. We start you on Suboxone to prevent the craving and withdrawal symptoms and then once you are stable we slowly remove you from the use of Suboxone. So a part of your plan might be to live in a residential drug and alcohol rehab home where you get the support to write out your plan, create a plan that you are able to succeed at, have the support of counselors to make this choice work and to have medication support to make it easier to succeed.
3) Outline the Plan
Write out an outline that you can follow. Call a friend and ask for support and show them the outline you have made. Have your friend help you to keep an attitude of positive thinking. Call your friend to offer you the support that you need to stay on the plan. Bow Creek Recovery Center can help you to do the outline of the plan, you are supported to attend 12 step programs and to choose a sponsor who will guide you to maintain your choice. Your time at Bow Creek is fully supported to follow your plan in the easiest way possible.
4) Pros and Cons
Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the left side write down the pros of following your plan. What will be better in your life, how will you feel when you are clean and sober, who will it effect, your family, yourself? On the right side of the paper write down the cons of how it will be if you do not follow your resolution. One, might be that you can die from your drug use, this is with both drugs and alcohol. Another is to write down how it has affected your life in a negative manner. Take a good look at what the good will be and what the bad will be.
5) Talk about it
Tell someone your plan, read the outline of the plan to your friend who will offer you the support that you need. Read to them the pros and cons. Let them know how your abuse of drugs or alcohol is affecting your life, your connections with family and friends, your work. The opportunity to talk about your plan is available to you at Bow Creek. We have counselors who are here to help you, to listen, to find out what effects this has had on your life and to help you to keep following the plan you have made.
6) Reward yourself for your success
This, obviously, does not mean go out and do drugs or alcohol. Maybe this means going out to do something fun that you have not done for a long time. Doing something fun without using drugs or alcohol shows you just how nice life is without substances. Go to a movie, go out to dinner with friends, go and play laser tag. There are so many fun possibilities for you to experience.
7) Track your progress
Write a journal that shows each small success. Write down how you made it through the day. Write down what fun you had while sober. Write down even the smallest success that you have had. It might be that you just managed to say no in that moment when you thought of using again, THIS IS A HUGE ONE!
8) Don't beat yourself up
Know that you are doing the best that you can each day. Do the best that you can for that day. Take it one day at a time. Of course if you have gone back to using and your life is out of control instead of beating yourself up look at your goal, your intention. If you find that you can not do it on your own then get help. Bow Creek Recovery Center offers you that help. Come to an environment that will support your decision to make a positive change in your life. Let us guide and support you to accomplish your resolution.
9) Stick to it
Experts say that it takes at least 21 days to gain the new direction. 21 days of doing your plan, of follow through, of success to have the new plan become a part of you. The experts also agree that it takes at least 6 months to become a part of your personality. So know that it is a one day at a time process and that with support and your intention and with the help of others you will reach that 21 day goal and then that 6 month goal and then that one year, two years.....the rest of your life goal of sobriety. How much better your life will be.
10) Keep trying
You have your plan, you have your friend or residential rehab for support, you have your resolution. Just keep trying, keep using the support you have attained, keep in touch with those who are here to help you. You can do it. You really can. Bow Creek Recovery Center is here to help you with your resolution.
